Hardened Cassock +3

CL 9 Body Slot Item • Weak Transmutation
Cost: 14,000 gp
Weight: 5 lbs.
Family: Hardened Cassock

A Hardened Cassock is a bit of a misnomer, as these items are literally any piece of clothing which has been magically empowered to serve as a suit of armor. They are universally sturdy items of clothing, although usually cut with at least a modicum of style and panache. They are often made of embroidered denim, inlaid leather, quilted felt with gabardine, and the like. They may be cut to evoke armor, or not, at the whim of the maker. It is possible to find Cassocks that are quite delicate in appearance, although such tend to be rarer. They tend to frequently have inlaid threads of gold, silver or dweomermetal buttons and clasps, and inlaid gemstones of various sorts, often with tasteful glowing effects.

Hardened Cassocks cannot make use of Dweomermetals, nor can they be enchanted with Armor Magic Properties. Furthermore, anyone wearing a Hardened Cassock cannot gain an Armor Enhancement Bonus to their AC from a second source, since stacking of bonuses of the same type is not allowed. Specifically, wearing a magical suit of armor and a cassock at the same time doesn't work. Weirdly enough, wearing a non-magical suit of armor and a cassock DOES work, and looks positively dashing in the right social circles.

A Hardened Cassock +3 adds a +3 Armor Enhancement Bonus to the wearer's Armor Class.

The owner of this magic item must wear it continuously for 24 hours to attune it to their aura, and until that time has passed, it provides no benefits to the wearer.

Creation: Creator (Feat), Bailiwick Check (DC 28 (10 + double CL)), Pale (tier 2) remnant, An item symbolic of the enchantment, 7,000 gp (minus cost of symbolic item).
