Space-Rending Rod

CL 7 Magic Rod • Weak Conjuration
Cost: 22,500 gp
Weight: 4 lbs.

This rod is in the shape of a twisting spiral. Attempting to follow the curves with the eye is a disorienting experience, as the curves are non-physical, and dip 'out of real' in order to maintain their form. When activated, it emits unearthly sounds and shimmers, writhing in the grip like a tormented snake.

Wielders of this rod can utter a command word as a standard action to cast a Dimension Door spell, using up one charge from the rod. A wielder of this rod may use feats specifically meant for Dimension Door to improve their use of this rod.

When activated, this rod warbles and writhes, and a nonsense portal opens adjacent to them. If desired, you may step through.

When you speak the command word and brandish the rod, you conjure an eerie, eldritch portal in your own space, the other end of which appears as you command within 200 feet of your current space.

You instantly transfer yourself from your current location to any other spot within range. You always arrive at exactly the spot desired - whether by simply visualizing the area or by stating direction. After using this spell, you can't take any other actions until your next turn (although certain feats allow you to overcome this drawback).

You can bring along objects you touch or in your possession as long as their weight doesn't exceed your maximum load. You may bring along extradimensional spaces such as Haversacks, Portable Holes, and even demi-planes, as the power of the rod seemingly operates under different rules than those devices. You may also bring one additional willing Medium or smaller creature (carrying gear or objects up to its maximum load) per ten creator levels of the rod, round down. A Large creature counts as two Medium creatures, a Huge creature counts as two Large creatures, and so forth. All creatures to be transported must be in contact with one another, and at least one of those creatures must be in contact with you.

If you arrive in a place that is already occupied by a solid body, you and each creature traveling with you take 1d6 points of interstice (physical, rare) damage per five feet you need to shunt, and are shunted to a random open space on a suitable surface within 200 feet of the intended location. If you need to shunt the maximum 200 feet, then you suffer 40d6 of interstice damage. Ouch. In such cases, the GM adjudicates where you arrive.

You can purchase this rod at a higher creator level than the minimum required to cast the spell. Doing so increases the potency of the spell as described above, but also increases the cost, as follows:
