Casting

Casting Time: True Dweomers require a Full-Round Action to cast normally.
  • If your roll equals or exceeds a DC of 52, you Fast Cast it as a Standard Action.
  • If your roll is a non-1 result between 42 and 51, you cast it as a Full-Round Action, as normal.
  • If your roll is less than 42, or you roll a natural 1 on the die, the spell is cast at half damage, treated as though all targets succeeded on their saving throws, or it deals only half its effect.
  • True Dweomers can be cast as rituals, requiring a 1 hour casting time. The area of effect or number of targets is multiplied by 10. The range of the spell is doubled if it is longer than Touch.

Target or Area: one target creature, plus one per 15 character levels (drop fractions; max 3 at level 30) enemy creatures within a 90 foot cone. (An 18x18x18 square adjacent to your space.)

Description

You hiss and crackle, voice low and strained, jade dust flaring into writhing tendrils of light which lash out from your fingertips to scribe arabesques and loops and curls of seething non-living, unquiet activity on all surfaces you face. This True Dweomer brings forth the dire forces of growth and corrosion, life and mechanical activity, growing, or seeding, strong deposits of green corruption everywhere it touches, growing tendrils of lifeless oxidation in a parody and celebration of the growth and death of all things. It is exalting and unsettling in equal measure, terrible and beautiful all at once.
This Vis Viva taps into the Green, but at a deeper level than mere vegetation. Choose an area adjacent to your space, at a corner or an edge, of a size as noted above. Enemy creatures you choose who are partly or wholly in that area, up to the number you may affect listed above, suffer (Strata 1 damage): 1d6+6 points of damage per character level (max 35d6+210 at character level 35) of corrosion (physical, uncommon) damage. A save as described above halves this damage.
In addition, every inch of all surfaces that fall within the area of effect may be covered with thick deposits of strong or crumbly green residue. This green residue may be used to Arcane Lock up to three doors, chests, or other closures in the area of effect, and can bulk up into a massive windrow to create a solid, opaque, physical effect equal to one Wall of Force, which may only be used to close off or narrow a passage, doorway, arch, cave mouth, or other opening that falls wholly within the area of effect.
All ongoing effects of Verdigris end at the end of the encounter if not broken previously, as the masses of corrosion crumble to dust and vanish.
As a True Dweomer, this spell requires three spell slots to Mana Burn for each Strata increase, and cannot be sacrificed to Mana Burn any other spells of any type.
