Ambush Predator (Ex)

Requires: Barbarian 1, Feral Mien
Benefit: Once per round as a free action, you can activate Ambush Predator to add precision damage to attacks you make against a single creature this round, as long as the first attack is made while you are stealthed, while the target is flat-footed, or while the target is otherwise unaware of your presence. The precision damage added to your attacks this round is equal to +1d8 per experience tier of the Barbarian class you possess, to a maximum of +7d8 if you have all seven Barbarian tiers. The damage type of the precision damage is the same type as the weapon that inflicts it. If the attack inflicts more than one type of damage (e.g. a flaming axe that deals both fire and slashing), the barbarian may choose which damage type the precision damage uses, from among those inflicted.
The precision damage granted by Ambush Predator applies to all attacks you make this round, but only against a single creature, and only if that creature was unaware of your presence at the time of your first attack. If you miss, you do not deal any precision damage. If you make an attack that includes more than one target, you choose which target takes damage from Ambush Predator. Ambush Predator can never apply its precision damage to more than one creature in a given round.

Progression:

  • 11th Level: If you make an attack augmented with Ambush Predator against a creature which has not yet acted during this encounter, the attack ignores any DR or ER the creature may have.
  • 21st Level: You can now use Ambush Predator against an enemy that has any status condition at all. You can still use Ambush Predator against an enemy against whom you are stealthed, a target is flat-footed, or a target that is otherwise unaware of your presence.
  • 31st Level: Attacks augmented with Ambush Predator always ignore a target's DR or ER, even if the target has already acted during this encounter.
