Description

An Arcane Lock spell cast upon a door, chest, or portal magically locks it. You can freely pass your own Arcane Lock without affecting it, as the gold dust consumed in the casting forms a tiny golden key. You may give this key to others, or have it taken from you by such actions as Steal maneuvers or pickpocketing. If the locked object has a lock, the DC to open that lock increases by 10 while it remains attached to the object. If the object does not have a lock, this spell creates one that can only be opened with a Disable Device skill check against a Challenging DC for the level of the caster at the time the spell was cast. A door or object secured with this spell can be opened only by sundering it, breaking in, or with a successful Dispel Magic (Sorcerer/Wizard Spell) or Knock (Sorcerer/Wizard Spell). Add 1 Durability to any door or closure affected by this spell, or add 5 to the normal DC to break open a door or portal affected by this spell. A Knock (Sorcerer/Wizard Spell) does not remove an Arcane Lock; it only suppresses the effect for 10 minutes, or, enough time to complete a typical Skill Challenge.
