Fictive damage is caused by an illusionist's will being exerted upon the world, or by similar partially-real things. While a target believes an illusion, they are afflicted with the damage type appropriate to the illusion (e.g. an ogre wielding a club, dealing bludgeoning (physical, common) damage). However, should the target pierce the veil of the illusion, they are struck by the raw magic that created the illusion in the first place, though usually to a much lesser degree than if they had believed the illusion.
