This rod is made of wood, with inlaid metal in the shape of domestic tools like ladles, brooms, tongs, and the like. It is also engraved with decorative 'magic symbols' to make it seem more amazing.

Wielders of this rod can utter a command word as a Standard Action to cast a Prestidigitation spell, using up one charge from the rod.

Speaking the command word empowers the wielder of the rod, and only the wielder of the rod, with amazing powers to Get Stuff Done. These rods are incredibly popular with busy staff in large inns, craftsmen in smithies, and many other places that can afford them.

Prestidigitations are usually minor tricks that novice spellcasters use for practice. Once cast upon the wielder, the Prestidigitation spell enables you to perform simple magical effects until a stressful event ruins the magic or you sleep, namely, lasting until the end of your next encounter, or the beginning of a full night's rest. The effects that can be created are minor and have severe limitations from a combat perspective, but are massively useful for day-to-day activities. The range of all effects are ten feet from the rod wielder's space. If the wielder does not possess the rod at any time, the effect ends.

Prestidigitation can slowly lift 1 pound of material. It can color, clean, or soil items in a 1-foot cube each round. It can chill, warm, or flavor 1 pound of nonliving material in a moment's time, or as a standard action during a fight. It cannot deal damage or affect the concentration of spellcasters. Prestidigitation can create small objects such as spoons, quills, or ladles, but they look crude and artificial. The materials created by a Prestidigitation spell are extremely fragile, and they cannot be used as tools, weapons, or spell components. Finally, prestidigitation lacks the power to duplicate any other spell effects. Any actual change to an object (beyond just moving, cleaning, or soiling it) persists only 1 hour.

You can purchase this rod at a higher creator level than the minimum required to cast the spell. Doing so increases the potency of the spell as described above, but also increases the cost, as follows:
