String can be used for trip-lines, sewing some very ugly seams, as the lead for a grappling hook (after you throw it, you attach a rope to the string and pull the rope through, instead of trying to throw the much heavier rope with the hook), or thousands of other uses. The fantasy-world version of duct tape, don't leave home without it. String has a sunder DC of 5, with 1 point of durability.
