The Celegian Creation Myth

The beginning of the universe is a vague topic to most of the population, and most view it as synonymous with the founding of the Empire by the God-Hero Emperor Celegio Celestia. In truth, the creation myth taught by Teb is the one which is most widely known and accepted. This myth is deceptively simple, and goes something like this.

Far, far before the Empire was founded, the Celestia was created. Long before Celestia was made, the crystal ranks of the heavens were made. And long, long before the heavens were made, there was nothing at all. This nothing was pure complete absence, a size-less, timeless, pool of perfect nullity. However, even here, nature abhors a vacuum. In this sea of perfect nothing, things began to appear and usually fade away spontaneously. Over a span of time so great as to be completely meaningless, the nothing gave way to a pulsing, heaving sea of pure chaos. In this chaos, everything which could be eventually would be. Most things appeared and shortly vanished, either spontaneously or jostled out of existence by the raw chaos surrounding it. However, eventually, there came to be a thing which had both the ability to control the effects of the sea and the intelligence to direct it. Since it was the only sentient thing and it had power over the sea of chaos, it was by definition the Supreme Entity. It existed for an unknown length of time, preserving its existence by its power. Eventually, another entity formed, and was stronger than the first entity, and so unmade it and became the new Supreme Entity. In the course of vast lengths of time, it too was eventually destroyed by a yet stronger entity.

This cycle continued for a truly vast span of time, until at last there rose up an entity whose power was the greatest yet and which was also coupled with an intellect which was so far beyond ours as to be indescribable. This Entity deduced that it could never control all of the boundless sea of chaos, by its very nature, so it decided that it must leave the chaos sea in order to escape the effects of it.

This Entity then performed the greatest feat of might ever conceived of. Within the remaining primal nothingness it created the entire multi-planed multiverse in which we now live and sundered it from the sea of chaos in one great convulsion of effort. It then created the infinite number of worlds and planes within this universe and seeded them with minuscule sparks of itself, and moved in.

The tiny sparks of this Entity formed all of the various Powers and through them lesser Powers were spread and these lesser Powers then created all of the myriad types of life which inhabit the world. Every living thing contains an infinitesimal bit of the Entity. This is the reason that Gods do not need the worship of their subjects to sustain their Power, but that worship can increase a Gods Power. This is the reason a God can fall, and so become less than it once was. By the same token, it is possible for a man to Ascend, by accumulation of might and wisdom, to take a place as a Power. It is rumored that Domana Himself was once only a man who strove mightily and has claimed his place in the Heavens.
