Least Rod of Accessioning
CL 1 • Rod • Weak Enchantment
Cost: 1,000 gp
Weight: 2 lbs.
Family: Rod of Accessioning

This elegant, gold-engraved rod features intricate runes across its many surfaces. At the business-end, it branches into three pointed prongs, but careful examination reveals that only one notch is present between the prongs. As a result, staring at the rod for too long is known to cause headaches and mild anxiety.

A rod of accessioning allows the wielder to add one additional target to spells they can cast which have a fixed number of targets greater than 1. This rod has no effect on spells which can only target a single creature (such as Disintegrate (Spell)), nor does it have any effect on a spell with no limit to the number of targets (such as Fireball (Spell)). It does improve a spell that can only target a single creature at lower caster levels, but can target more than one creature at higher caster levels (such as Magic Missile (Spell)), even if the wielder isn't high enough to affect more than one creature with such spells yet.

The rod's ability can also be applied to spell-like abilities, assuming that ability meets the requirements described above.

This magic item's power stacks with the Sorcerer's Spell Surge ability, for spells which meet the requirements of both that ability and this rod.

The least rod of accessioning allows the wielder to add one additional target to any first-level spell they can cast which has a fixed number of targets greater than 1.

The rod's ability can also be applied to any spell-like ability that the wielder possessed at character level 1, assuming that ability meets the requirements described above.

This magic item does not require an attunement period, and grants its benefits immediately upon being worn or wielded.

Creation: Creator (Feat), Bailiwick Check (DC 12), Languid (tier 1) remnant, An item symbolic of the enchantment, 500 gp (minus cost of symbolic item).
