| Description = The longsword is much more than a stretched out short sword.  The extra length of a longsword makes it a serious martial weapon, able to inflict heavy damage at all times and hit for deadly effect pretty often.  The combination of deadly damage combined with a fairly small, light, and handy size makes the longsword a serious favorite of all adventurers.  There are literally dozens upon dozens of variations of the long, straight one-handed sword blade, and for our purposes, they're all longswords.  The Longsword belongs to the "Blades, Heavy" weapon group.
