:* '''Notes''': A hide shirt is more accurately called a leather breastplate.  It consists of two or more layers of thick linseed-treated top-grain leather laminated with glue and lacquer into a segmented shell to cover the torso.  It is lightweight and surprisingly protective, but quite rigid, so it is a bit restrictive.
