Condition Severity: Strong

Effects

  • Creatures with the 'asleep' condition immediately fall prone and can take no actions until the condition ends. Furthermore, asleep creatures are vulnerable to coup-de-grace attacks.
If the sleeping creature is in a noisy environment, such as combat, it may make a new saving throw every round at the end of its turn to attempt to wake up. The DC for this saving throw is the same DC as the original effect. Unless the original effect specifies otherwise, creatures which wake up from the Asleep status are Sluggish for 1 full round, and then Drowsy for 1 full round after that, after which the condition is cleared. Note that waking up from the Asleep condition does not automatically remove the Prone status; the creature must still stand up on their own.
While Asleep creatures technically drop held items, these items fall into the same square the creature falls prone in, and require no additional actions to retrieve once the creature wakes up.

Ended By

If the ability, trap, or effect description includes specific directions for how the condition is ended, then that is the primary means of ending this condition. In many cases, it is the only way to end the condition. If nothing is specifically listed for ending the condition, then the following methods can be used to end it, instead:
