Condition Severity: Moderate

A terrible foe looms before you. Your only thought is to survive the next few moments.

Effects

  • You take a -4 penalty on all d20 rolls, except saving throws.
  • In addition, you must Fight Defensively at all times while the condition persists.
  • You may perform most free actions (such as making saving throws or talking), at the GM's discretion.
  • This is a fear condition.

Ended By

If the ability, trap, or effect description includes specific directions for how the condition is ended, then that is the primary means of ending this condition. In many cases, it is the only way to end the condition. If nothing is specifically listed for ending the condition, then the following methods can be used to end it, instead:

  • You may take a Total Defense action to regain your composure, immediately ending the Cringing condition.
  • Alternatively, an adjacent ally who is not afflicted with a fear condition can spend a Move Action to bolster your morale, immediately ending the Cringing condition.
  • If not cleared, the Cringing condition automatically ends at the end of the encounter.
