Troll (CR 5)

Lumbering out of the trees is, upon first impression, an enormous human with broad, thick shoulders and two solid, tree-trunk arms stretching down to almost drag on the ground. At further glance, its skin is a sickly, greenish hue and its eyes are pools of inky blackness. Its face is long and angular, with a solid, pointy chin and a crooked, hawkish nose, and its hair looks more like a mat of forest weeds and rests tangled and greasy on its heavy brow. There is an air of unsettled violence about it—its hands end in razor-sharp claws and its body seems taut and agile despite its size.

Trolls are single-minded berserkers in combat. They attack the nearest foe without hesitation and don’t stop until that foe is down.

Because of their regenerative abilities, trolls are fearless. Even flames or the presence of acid don’t slow them down—they always fight to the death.

SPECIAL ABILITIES

Regeneration (Su)

Trolls regenerate 10 points of damage at the start of their turns. However, if the troll takes any fire or acid damage, he cannot regenerate on the following turn. Regeneration will allow a troll to reattach severed limbs or regrow them if they aren't available for reattachment. Regeneration continues to operate even past death, and a troll can only be killed by burning the body or immersing it in acid until it is completely destroyed.

COMBAT TACTICS

Trolls are your basic killing machines. They will charge into fights and try to settle into full attack actions as quickly as they can. They have no fear and will never run. During the fighting they will use five foot steps when possible to open up the range on melee attackers, so they can get attacks of opportunity with their reach and Combat Reflexes.
