| Family-Desc| Finemail Smallclothes are light, extremely well-made "boutique" items that fit into the armor slot of those who wear them.  They do not require an armor proficiency of any sort to wear, and do not, ever, inflict a non-proficiency penalty for wearing armor, nor do they count as wearing armor for class restrictions, race restrictions, or in any other way.  Conversely, they do not provide any sort of armor bonus to the wearer, and cannot be enchanted with an Armor enhancement bonus, nor can they carry any sort of an Armor Magic Property.
So, they are exceeding delicate, often extremely beautiful, lightweight, and often decorative items of smallclothes.  While such items are very common in depictions of the adventurer's lifestyle, they seem quite useless wastes of money, until you realize that Finemail Smallclothes can be made of Dweomermetals, and while they are not armor and give no protective armor effect at all, they ''do'' allow the wearer to benefit from the effects of the dweomermetal they are made of.
Plus, let's be honest, Finemail Smallclothes look awesome.  If you want your adventurer to have some serious style and really showcase that Charisma, these items are the way to go.
Because they occupy the Armor slot, Finemail Smallclothes cannot ever be worn with another Armor item.  Despite not being armor, they are made of considerable amounts of magical material and are close to the body, and so they do inflict an Arcane Spell failure chance, unless you choose to wear the Mithril variants, which are pretty much purely decorative, and quite awesome to boot.
