Not just anybody can do this, you know. Well, okay, they can if they have this pattern. But otherwise...

Numbing Creature Pattern (+1 CR)

Subtype: add Numbing to subtypes

Numbing Creature is a pattern that adds a freezing aura to a creature. Whether they are made of snow, or have their hearts replaced with chunks of alchemical ice, exhale bitter frost, or sweat out freezing caloric rather than sweat, fighting a Numbing Creature is a cause to want your mittens!

Numbing Creatures may be natives of the remote frozen tundra, or natives of bright deserts. Numbing creatures may hail from the Plane of Air, or some putative Plane of Cold, or maybe they have evolved their cold nature in response to an infestation of Hellhounds. Numbing may be gifted by some Mage, or represent an alchemical potion they've poured over their heads before a battle. Maybe they are the minions of the mighty and terrible Snow Miser, and are working to blight the world by stealing all the cold. The possibilities are nearly endless!

Regardless of their origin or mechanics, Numbing Creatures are tough to battle from up close, and can give your melee players plenty of challenges to deal with!

This creature seems to have an aspect of incredible, unnatural cold surrounding it.

Numbing Aura (Ex; Numbing Creature Pattern)

Up to once per round, after it performs an attack action, a Numbing Creature emits a deadly wave of chill as an aura surrounding it. This is a cold damage aura that effects all enemy creatures within 1 squares of the Numbing Creature's space. This damage aura inflicts 1d3 points of cold (energy, common) damage. Affected creatures may make a Fortitude save agains a DC of 14 in order to take half damage.
