Family: Ring of Expertise

A ring of expertise is a heavily sculpted band of puremetal, with hundreds of ultra-fine runes inlaid in bloodgold. It is a marvel to look at, drawing the eye more readily than a finely cut diamond. It pulses with a heavy power, reminding the wearer constantly of the gifts it is bestowing upon them.

Wearing a ring of expertise gives the wearer greater expertise with eight skills. Such rings are almost entirely worn by adventurers, though a few high noblemen (kings, and the like) sometimes wear them to show off to their peers. These rings are so expensive, and provide such a broad variety of insight into skills that few people with actual jobs really ever have need of one. For these callous-handed folk, the rings of talent or savvy are far more useful (and affordable).

Since the bonus granted by a ring of expertise is an Enhancement Bonus, it cannot be stacked with other skill-boosting items boosting the same skill; instead, only the highest available boost is added to a given skill. You can, however, have multiple skill boosting items that affect different skills.

While worn, this ring grants a +1 Enhancement Bonus to eight different skills, chosen at the time the ring is acquired. Once selected, the skills affected by this ring cannot be changed, even through the Reselection process. Instead, a new ring must be purchased.

The owner of this magic item must wear it continuously for 24 hours to attune it to their aura, and until that time has passed, it provides no benefits to the wearer.

Creation: Creator (Feat), Bailiwick Check (DC 12 (10 + double CL)), Languid (tier 1) remnant, An item symbolic of the enchantment, 160 gp (minus cost of symbolic item).
