  • Cost: base 75 gp (or more, for higher level versions)
  • Weight: 1 lbs.
This 1-foot-long, gold-tipped iron rod glows brightly when struck. When purchased at CR's of 1 to 10, it takes a Standard action to ignite a Sunrod. When purchased at CR's between 11 to 20, it takes a Swift action to activate a Sunrod. When purchased at CR's 21 ro 30, it requires an immediate action to activate a Sunrod. At CR's of 31 and higher, activating a Sunrod is a feee action.

When activated, any Sunrod sheds bright light. Sunrod's light up a minimum of a 30-foot radius and produces dim light for another 30 feet beyond that, plus ten feet to the bright light radius per CR of the Rod. Thus, a CR1 Sunrod provides bright light for 40 feet and dim light for 30 feet, a CR5 Sunrod provide bright light for 80 feet and dim light for 30 feet, a CR 15 Sunrod provides bright light for 180 feet and 30 feet of dim light, up to a CR 35 Sunrod, which provides bright light for 380 feet and 30 feet of dim light. A sunrod does not increase the light level in bright light. Once activated, a Sunrod glows until the end of the next Full Night's Rest, after which the gold tip is burned out and worthless.

You can purchase this item at a higher creator level than the minimum required to cast the spell. Doing so increases the potency of the item as described above, but also increases the cost, as follows:
