Tyrannosaurus (CR 12)

The Tyrannosaurus is a sized-huge dinosaur, with a massive head lined with sword-like teeth, and room for little else. Their arms are diminutive and vestigial, serving little purpose, since their evolution has pointed them solidly at a "bite everything" approach to survival. They are quite fast on their feet and fearsome predators.

SPECIAL ABILITIES

Grab

After any successful bite attack, the Tyrannosaurus may make a free Grapple attack, rolling it's CMB (d20 + 21) versus the target's CMD. If successful, the target is Grappled in the Tyrannosaurus' mouth. Note that the Tyrannosaurus is never treated as being Grappled while grappling an enemy with its mouth, though the grappled opponent suffers the normal penalties for being Grappled.

Swallow Whole

If the Tyrannosaurus begins its turn with an opponent grappled in its mouth (see Grab), it can attempt a new combat maneuver check (as though attempting to pin the opponent). If it succeeds, it swallows its prey, and the opponent takes bite damage. Unless otherwise noted, the opponent can be up to one size category Smaller than the swallowing creature. Being swallowed causes a creature to take 2d8+15 Acid damage each round. A swallowed creature keeps the grappled condition, while the creature that did the swallowing does not. A swallowed creature can try to cut its way free with any light slashing or piercing weapon (the amount of cutting damage required to get free is equal to 25 hit points), or it can just try to escape the grapple. The Armor Class of the interior of the Tyrannosaur is equal to its Touch AC (AC 20), and does not benefit from the Tyrannosaur's DR 5/- or ER 5/-. If a swallowed creature cuts its way out, the swallowing creature cannot use swallow whole again until the damage is healed. If the swallowed creature instead chooses to escape the grapple, success puts it back in the attacker’s mouth, where it may be bitten or swallowed again.

A creature which cuts its way free of the creature is deposited on an interior square of the creature's space, allowing it to set up Interior Flanks for his allies. Assuming the escaped creature is size Medium or smaller, he is not considered squeezing while occupying this interior space (and neither is the Tyrannosaur).

COMBAT TACTICS

Tyrannosaurs are fast, efficient predators. They will bite and swallow prey as quickly as they can manage. Their claw damage is somewhat pitiful, so they will eagerly perform charges or 'move and attack' actions, rather than trying to set up full attacks. If a tyrannosaur successfully swallows 3 sized medium creatures (with small creatures counting as half a medium), they will leave the battle to go digest their dinner. Otherwise, they will typically stay and fight whatever dares to challenge them.
