===Length of Turns===
===Intervals===
The length of each turn varies by what range the vehicles are at in relation to each other.
Turns in abstract combat last 1 hour each, and are called "Intervals".
* Turns at Close range are 5 minutes each
* Turns at Short range are 20 minutes each
* Turns at Medium range are 1 hour each
* Turns at Long range are 2 hours each
* Turns at Out of Range are 3 hours each

Taking any action requires the listed amount of time for your current range (not the range you are moving into). Thus, it takes a vehicle 3 hours to move from Out of Range to Long Range, assuming it is successful in doing so in a single turn. Since slower ships require multiple expenditures to close a range, and since pilots oppose each other, it can take days for vehicles to close from Out of Range to Long Range, depending on the difference in skill between the PC vehicle and the enemy vehicle.
Taking any action requires the full hour.  If the encounter turns into real-time combat, such as with a boarding action, initiative will be rolled, and turns will revert to 6-second rounds as per the normal combat rules.

Boarding actions take place with normal 6-second rounds, as with normal combat, however, boarding actions always take a minimum of 20 minutes.
Note that boarding merely gives you control of the vessel. Clearing, searching and looting a boarded vessel is all performed in abstract intervals, requiring one or more
