Beast Heart (Ex)

Requires: Barbarian 1, Feral Mien
Benefit: Once per round as a free action, you can activate Beast Heart prior to performing a full attack action. When you do so, you lose the ability to use your fourth attack action for anything other than a 5-foot step, and you also suffer a -2 penalty to your first attack. However, you gain a +1 bonus to your second attack, and a +4 bonus to your third attack.
During any round in which Beast Heart is active, your fourth attack action cannot be used for anything except a 5-foot step — you can't attack with it or perform a combat maneuver with it. As with other 'trade away an attack action for a 5-foot step' abilities, you can use this before, between, or after any of your other attacks.
If you gain one or more bonus attacks from any source, such as from Haste, they are performed at your highest attack value, which means they suffer from the same -2 penalty as your primary attack.

Progression:

  • 11th Level: You may now use your fourth attack to slide (non-provoking) up to half your Walk speed, instead of only a 5-foot step. As with other 'trade away an attack action for a 5-foot step' abilities, you can use this before, between, or after any of your other attacks, though you cannot split it up, since it is a single action.
  • 21st Level: Your second attack gains a further +1 to hit (for a total of +2), and your third attack gains a further +2 to hit (for a total of +6). Your primary attack still suffers the same -2 penalty as before, and your fourth attack is still limited to only being used for a slide action equal to half your Walk speed.
  • 31st Level: Your second attack gains a further +1 to hit (for a total of +3), and your third attack gains a further +2 to hit (for a total of +7). Your primary attack still suffers the same -2 penalty as before, and your fourth attack is still limited to only being used for a slide action equal to half your Walk speed.
