'Caustic Creature' is an inherited Pattern that can be added to any creature, hereafter referred to as the base creature.

A Caustic Creature uses all of the base creature's statistics and abilities except as noted below.

CR (challenge rating)

Same as base creature +1.

Size and Type

The creature's Size and Type do not change.

Initiative Modifier

The creature's initiative modifier increases by +1.

Senses

No changes.

Armor Class

Caustic Creatures gain +2 AC.

Hit Dice

No changes.

Defensive Ability

A Caustic Creature gains the following abilities, which may be added to their Bestiary entry:

Aura: Once per round, when it makes any attack action, a Caustic Creature emits a fine spray of corrosive material as an aura surrounding it. This may be a mist of acidic spores, bursting blisters across it's skin, flakes of pepper it sprinkled on its weapons, or acidic pickled marrow squirting from its bile-soaked bones. This is an acidic damage aura that effects all enemy creatures within adjusted Challenge Rating/10 (round down, minimum 1, 2 at 21 to 29, 3 at 30+) squares of the Caustic Creature's space. This damage aura inflicts Special Swift Damage points of acid (energy, common) damage. Affected characters may roll a Fortitude save against an Average Save DC to only take half damage.

Special Defenses: The Caustic Creature is immune to Acid damage.

Speed

A Caustic Creature's base speed improves by ten feet in all movement categories it has.

Melee Attacks

A Caustic Creature retains all the base creature's attacks, and its weapon and armor proficiencies. These attacks retain the same primary or secondary status they had for the base creature. Beginning at CR9, the Caustic Creature also adds 1d6 of acid damage to all its melee attacks.
