Fortification, Absolute (Armor Magic Property)

Enchant Cost: +7 (epic)

You must be level 21 or higher to equip, wield or wear an item with this property.

This suit of armor or shield produces a magical force that protects vital areas of the wearer more effectively. When a critical hit or a precision damage attack (such as sneak attack) is scored on the wearer, the armor magically absorbs a portion of that damage, regardless of the damage type.

This is considered to be a special form of Damage Reduction, that operates against only critical damage or precision damage, but will defend against that type of damage from any source, physical or energy, only being defeated by Primal damage. If a player is affected by a single qualifying attack that inflicts both energy and physical damage, the protection of this armor protects against BOTH, but only when a critical attack is made or precision damage is inflicted. Note that if the character wearing this armor has DR and/or ER from other sources, this special Resistance against criticals and precision damage will stack with that other resistance, regardless of its type, but only for limited attack types.

The amount of Damage Resistance and/or Energy Resistance (DR and/or ER) the armor grants is dependent upon the type of armor in question, with heavier armor providing more protection.

Table: Critical or Precision Damage Resistance by Armor Type
Armor Type DR and/or ER Amount
Light 130
Medium 140
Heavy 150
Creation: Creator (Feat), Epic Creator (Feat), Bailiwick Check (DC 57), a blazing remnant (tier 5), and an item symbolic of the enchantment.
