A light mace is a sturdy stick roughly two feet long with a striking head on one end. They can be made of many different materials. A light mace is about the least complex 'serious' weaponry. No great skill is required to use a light mace, but it is a surprisingly effective piece of armament. Even more surprisingly, the Light Mace is also frequently seen as the 'foundation' for Magic Rods, the bigger, surly relatives of magic wands, where that 'stout' quality comes in very handy indeed. Despite its underwhelming performance as a pure martial weapon, if you take a sturdy stick and slather magic on it until it nearly bursts, you wind up with quite the useful object. As a result, these humble hitting sticks are much more common than you might suspect. The Light Mace belongs to the "Hammers" weapon group. |
