'''Benefit''': A rogue with this talent can attempt to spread a rumor through a small town or larger settlement by making a Bluff check. She can do so a number of times per week equal to her Charisma modifier (minimum 1). The DC is based on the size of the settlement, and it takes a week for the rumor to propagate through the settlement. If the check succeeds, the rumor is practically accepted as fact within the community. Succeeding by 5 or more over the DC decreases the time it takes the rumor to propagate by 1d4 days.  A failed check means the rumor failed to gain traction, while failing by 5 or more causes the opposite of the rumor or some other competing theory involving the rumor's subject to take hold.

Ability Type: Ex

Prerequisites: Rogue 16

Benefit: A rogue with this talent can attempt to spread a rumor through a small town or larger settlement by making a Bluff check. They can do so up to once per week. Using this talent requires two full days each time it is used, during which the rogue may not perform any actions that take longer than an hour (other than eating and resting), or else the day does not count toward this task. After completing two days of rumor-spreading, they may make a Bluff check versus a DC based on the Settlement's size, per the chart below.

Community Size DC
Small town 28
Large town 31
Small city 37
Large City 42
Metropolis 50
Megalopolis 59
Dimensional Nexus 68
  • If the check succeeds, the rumor spreads over the course of the next 5 days (during which time the rogue may do whatever they want), and after that, is practically accepted as fact within the community.
  • If the rogue's check succeeds by 5 or more over the listed DC, the rumor spreads through the town in only 1 additional day (after the two the rogue spent getting the rumor started), and the rumor is believed readily by nearly everyone.
  • If the rogue fails the check, the rumor circulates through the settlement over the course of 5 days, but fails to gain traction among the populace.
  • If the rogue fails the check by 5 or more, the opposite of the rumor or some other competing theory involving the rumor's subject takes hold in the settlement, instead.

GMs are encouraged to make this roll in secret, since the outcome is so uncertain.
