Exceptional Wand of Accessioning

CL 14 Magic Wand • Moderate Enchantment
Cost: 56,000 gp
Weight: 5 lbs.
Family: Wand of Accessioning

This elegant, gold-engraved wand features intricate runes across its many surfaces. At the business-end, it branches into three pointed prongs, but careful examination reveals that only one notch is present between the prongs. As a result, staring at the wand for too long is known to cause headaches and mild anxiety.

A wand of accessioning allows the wielder to add one additional target to spells they can cast which are either rays, or have a fixed number of targets greater than 1. This wand has no effect on non-ray spells that can only target a single creature (such as Disintegrate (Sorcerer/Wizard Spell)), nor does it have any effect on a spell with no limit to the number of targets (such as Fireball (Sorcerer/Wizard Spell)). It does improve a spell that can only target a single creature at lower caster levels, but can target more than one creature at higher caster levels (such as Magic Missile (Sorcerer/Wizard Spell)), even if the wielder isn't high enough to affect more than one creature with such spells yet.

The wand's ability can also be applied to spell-like abilities, assuming that ability meets the requirements described above.

This magic item's power stacks with the Sorcerer's Spell Surge ability, for spells which meet the requirements of both that ability and this rod.

The Exceptional Wand of Accessioning allows the wielder to add one additional target to any spell they can cast of spell level 5 or less which is either a ray spell, or has a fixed number of targets greater than 1. This applies to the base spell level of the spell prior to any metamagic being applied to it (though spells which have been researched to always include one or more metamagics have a higher base spell level).
The wand's ability can also be applied to any spell-like ability that the wielder possessed at character level 9 or earlier, assuming that ability meets the requirements described above.

This magic item does not require an attunement period, and grants its benefits immediately upon being worn or wielded.

Creation: Creator (Feat), Bailiwick Check (DC 38 (10 + double CL)), Pale (tier 2) remnant, An item symbolic of the enchantment, 28,000 gp (minus cost of symbolic item).
