Menacing Growl (Su)

Requires: Barbarian 1, Feral Mien
Benefit: Once per round as a free action, you can activate Menacing Growl, emitting a terrifying growl in a 15-foot cone (a 3x3x3 square space adjacent to your space). Until the end of your current turn, any successful attack you make against an enemy creature in the affected area deals its normal damage, but also inflicts 1d6 points of Stilling (energy, uncommon) damage on all enemy creatures in the affected area, including your target. If you miss with an attack, it does not deal this damage. The additional damage provided by Menacing Growl is considered bonus damage, which is not multiplied on a critical hit, but bypasses resistance to precision damage. Creatures immune to fear are not subject to the damage from Menacing Growl.

Progression:

  • 11th Level: Menacing Growl now deals 1d6 + your CHA modifier as Stilling (energy, uncommon) damage to all enemy creatures in the affected area, each time you successfully hit a creature in that area.
  • 21st Level: Menacing Growl now affects all enemy creatures within a 20 foot radius of you (within 4 squares from your space) (instead of a cone).
  • 31st Level: Menacing Growl now lasts until the start of your next turn (meaning it is triggered by any attacks of opportunity you make before your next turn, as well).
